Yes, it’s been a minute or two since my last post. Sorry about that. This journal is mostly meant to supplement our aging memories, but we do have a few friends and family that follow our journey. So, I need to take note that my last blog post covered our Alaska RV Trip in 2022. This post is about our travel in 2023, but written a year later due to procrastination.
As I write this post in August of 2024 from a little campsite near the shores of Port Severn, Lake Huron, Canada, I realize how important these notes are. It’s hard to remember the details of our past travel, let alone a trip just 2 years out. Without these photos and journal entries, we’d be in serious trouble.
2023 was an interesting year, to say the least. Life jumped out at us while we were on the road camping and house hunting with Ron and Stace during our first RV trip of the year. We were in Idaho at the time, but we took the decision to head back home midway, about Missoula Montana area to do some “life” stuff with the kids back home.
After a couple months hopping between Mesa and San Diego we realized that we had a couple months of travel left in the year before the Winter holidays. So, armed with some time and our new ultra fast “stay connected” mobile Starlink internet on board, we headed out for a second trip in Cheryl’s mobile office command center.
Now, as you know, every RV trip needs a destination, a goal to achieve. It needs a theme and a finish line. At the very least it needs some kind of halfway point. Since RV trip #2 was spontaneous and we had heard about how good the KC BBQ was, we decided that Kansas City, MO was going to be our destination. It was far enough, but not too far, and it followed the good Fall weather in the Mid-West perfectly.
So, we ended up having two amazing RV trips in 2023. The first was up to Idaho and Montana, then back to Mesa, AZ, SLO, and San Diego. The second was out to Kansas City to get some BBQ and then back to SLO in time for the holidays. Along the way we got to experience culture, food, some outdoor wilderness, and yes, a few breweries.
Hope you enjoy the photos as much as we enjoyed traveling and taking them. Stay tuned because we’re about 10,000 miles through our 2024 trip with about 5,000 left to go. We’ve both been working along the way and our goal to reach the shores of Nova Scotia have been achieved!
